Miqotes often have two names: a human birth name and a Meerkat or Cat name. There are about 1,200 Meerkat or Cat names in use worldwide. A Miqo’te with many talents has sometimes been called a “Papoose.” Miqo’te names are often unique and the same name has rarely been shared. Miqotes rarely have “Baptismal” names. Today we’re taking a look at ten facts about Miqo’te names that will blow your mind!

 Whether you know it or not, you’ve probably heard of some of these before — but never as many as we’ll be showing today. We start off with the Succubus. ” Succubus ” was a name given to a Miqo’te whose name begins with the letter ” S. ” She was known as the third member of the ” S-Trio “, whose names also began with this letter. The other two members were named: Sylph and Shiva . It is unclear if the ” Succubus’s ” second name started with another letter or if it simply ends with an “”S””.

1. Sylph

” Sylph ” was a name given to a Miqo’te whose name begins with the letter ” S. ” She was known as the third member of the ” S-Trio “, whose names also began with this letter. The other two members were named: Succubus and Shiva . It is unclear if the ” Sylph’s ” second name started with another letter or if it simply ended with an “”S””. 

2. Shiva

” Shiva ” was a name given to a Miqo’te whose name begins with the letter ” S. ” She was known as the third member of the ” S-Trio “, whose names also began with this letter. The other two members were named: Sylph and Succubus . It is unclear if the ” Shiva ” second name started with another letter or if it simply ended with an “”S””. 

3. Viera

Viera is sometimes used as a human name in both Ganesha and Miqo’te culture. However, it is not always considered a Miqo’te name. It has been used to describe some high-level Miqotes, such as Viera Soumahra, so I thought we’d look at this one too! The word Viera does not mean “human. It means “of the race of Miqo’te.” Viera is a Gaelic word meaning “white bird”.

4. Kana – 

Kana is originally believed to be an ancient name for humans. Since then, most scholars made the distinction between Miqote and Kana. The word Kana is not often used as a human name in Ganesha culture. In fact, it is rarely used as a human name in any culture! However, kana can still be seen sometimes as a nickname or alternate name when people use ganesha to describe their friends or things they are attached to.

5. Nalbina – 

“Nalbina ” is the Miqo’te name of Chocolate Beans’s pet cat. It was given to her by Snowfield’s mayor, Nalbina Tonborelle after the death of her mother. Nalbina is said to be a variation of the color “navy blue.” It was originally used as a human name in the real world, but that has been changing over time. The Miqo’te name Nalbina is becoming more and more popular, especially among female Ganesha. 

6. Aya – 

Aya is an African word for life, which may have inspired its use as a Miqote name because it sounds similar to ‘Agassi’, the word for life in Miqo’te language. It was likely used to refer to a cat-like person due to its similarity with the pronunciation of “Miyagessi. “Aya” comes from the Miqo’te word “ayi. “

7. Baha – 

The ” Bah ” is a sound made by cats and sometimes used as a human name. This name has also appeared in other languages as Baha, Bah, Baho and similar names. 

He’s probably best known as the guy who became the head of Caleta Palace during the Third Umbral Era’s War of Transference on Canopus. The name is probably used because it means “cat.” 

8. Baya – 

Bayi is the Miqo’te term for the act of ordering someone around, similar to “man.” It was a commonly used name that often described a person who loved to order people around. This is almost universal among cats and even dogs.

9. Bey – 

Bey is actually a variation of Bayi. The names are so similar that they could have easily been confused as one another in writing, especially because they were so commonly used! It was originally used as a cat name but it has now become more common as an alternate human name. In some places, you can hear people calling their woman friends “Bey” or their men friends “Bay” with their own special pronunciations. Both “Bey” and “Bay” are very common Miqo’te names.

10. Bidu – 

This is a common name for the Miqo’te who controls moonlight, the primary source of power in the real world; it was likely used because it sounds similar to the word ‘Bidu’. This is also a common name for cats and dogs. It may have been used as a human name as well.
